Help us alleviate the challenges of food insecurity that many CMU students face.
The Student Food Pantry aims to ensure that hunger is not a barrier to academic success or well-being for any student at Central Michigan University. It helps students stay focused and well-fed with distributions of free food. Learn more about the availability and reasons for the food pantry below.
The Student Food Pantry is open to any currently enrolled CMU student in need of supplemental food assistance. The first food distribution occurred from 6-8 p.m. on November 27, 2018, and it is now open weekly on Tuesday 5-7 pm, Wednesday 3-5 pm, and Friday 12-3 pm. Additionally during the 2020 – 2021 school year the pantry has stayed open for distributions during Winter Break and Summer Break. The Student Food Pantry is located near the old North Campus Testing Center under the Robinson Residential Restaurant.
Along with the Food Pantry, in 2020, the Care Pantry was started with supplemental hygiene, cleaning, cooking, and school supplies. This pantry has been growing to help fit students’ needs with products other than food. The distributions follow the same format as the Food Pantry so students can pick up any food and non-food items they are in need of. It is also located near the old North Campus Testing Center under the Robinson Residential Restaurant.
Purchasing food for the pantry costs 22 cents a pound and includes meat, produce, bread, and dairy products; therefore, every dollar donated makes a significant impact. Thank you!
